Most sparrows are almost here in force, but the Song Sparrows are way ahead. You can’t go for a walk with out finding at least one. Their loud, buzzy song bursts out from every second bush down by the creek.
Here is one of them. There is a second very conveniantly hiding behind the first
Other Feathers on Fridays:
I saw something that looked like a chaffinch the other day. It was very orange, though…maybe some other type of finch? There were several of them in a pine tree picking around the pine cones.
Could they be Pine Grosbeak females?
Do you have any photos? Other wise, PIGR females are your best guess.
Actually, I take that back. They could have been Red or White-winged Crossbills.
No Song Sparrows here, but I saw my First of Season European Starlings today. Spring is on its way!
